About Jan Kish

Lambert Photographs2.JPG

Jan is a talented professional with a personable presence. Her work has received industry-wide respect for the 30 plus years she's been in the business. She has a precise attention to detail, complimented by a masterful skill level that has paved the way for the conception of breathtaking cake designs.

If you don't find Jan it the kitchen, she'll be in the garden. She tends to a lush garden at home and has helped develop the cozy Knot Garden in her own community of Worthington, Ohio, open to the public.

This passion, coupled with the craft of cake making, has brought about several opportunities to showcase herself. The Herb Society of America entitled her towering centerpiece the "Best in Show" at the Philadelphia Flower Show. She also created a floral themed confection at the esteemed Rose Cliff Mansion, Newport, RI. Both of these creations were made on site! Jan is also a ‘frequent flyer’ shipping cakes, sweet accessories AND herself domestically and internationally.

Jan has undergone an extensive education. She began studying English Lit at Oxford (that IS England!) and meanwhile honed her culinary skills at Cordon Rose, the Cordon Bleu and L’Academie de Cuisine. Jan then spent ten years as a cardiac catheterization assistant at The Ohio State University Hospital before claiming her passion for all things delicious. Re-enacting the swash-buckling technique of Sabering, begun by Napoleon’s cavalry in the 1800’s, allows her exhibitionist tendencies to take center stage for the entertainment and enjoyment of wedding and party guests.

Not convinced yet? She packs an impressive resume of clients, with names like President Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Bob Hope and Woody Hayes just to name a few!

TV Appearances

On several occasions Jan and her cakes have made their way onto the television screen! In TLC's ultimate cake challenge her competitive spirit flew, her cake being deemed the "best tasting cake". She took part in Food Networks Cake Competition and made a guest appearance on their 'Sugar Rush'. When the TODAY Show threw a wedding there was one person to call. Needless to say, it was a hit. Good Morning America's 'Think Pink' Breast Cancer Awareness campaign saw Jan ornamenting their set with her Pink Tribute. Some other features include NBC "Today Throws a Wedding", PBS News, and ABC Wedding Special.
